Our practice participates in the donor campaign led by the Federal Chamber of Dentists (BZÄK) in association with the German Bone Marrow Donor Center (DMKS).
Based on the information provided by DKMS, every 45 minutes, a patient is diagnosed with leukemia. Every16 minutes, a patient is diagnosed with other blood cancers. Many of those diagnosed are teenagers or children.
To include dental practices in the fight against this disease, the BZÄK has contracted with DKMS. The BZÄK encourages association members to support DKMS’s donor program.
Founded in 1991, DKMS is a charitable, non-governmental organization whose aim is to create healing opportunities for leukemia (and other blood disorder) patients, through bone marrow donations. The promotional campaign is endorsed by athletes and other active individuals.
DKMS is the world’s largest stem cell donation data base. That said, only every fifth patient is matched with a fitting donor. DKMS’s goal is to develop the stem cell donor bank to match more patients, offering them a greater chance of survival.
If being a donor interests you, we can help. With their motto “Shout out against blood cancer,” you can become active as a registered potential donor.
